LOVE

Okay so I have to follow up to that romantic We post…it seems only fair, yet I am not nearly as skilled as others, so I had to resort to videos. That and with Valentine’s Day tomorrow too ;)

Two of the most romantic songs/videos…ever

Best TV Show

I watch a lot of TV, well okay, I probably watch a lot of reruns, okay when I’m not doing a million other things, I watch some TV. Most shows are no longer worth my time. I like excellent writing, and new ideas/concepts, and I like funny, lots of funny. Retro is a bonus.

Because I only have a TV antenna  for local shows I have fallen in love with Netflix streaming. And I have discovered that the best sitcom ever on air has to go to That 70′s Show (sorry Friends). I have become addicted to That 70′s Show. I had seen a few seasons in reruns when I first moved to Arizona, but on streaming, the ability to watch one right after the other with the click of my game controller has me zoned out every weekend morning and weekend night!

Sadly, watching That 70′s Show makes me wish I had money to decorate my house (more so than normal). The retro items on the set make me gitty. Why did we ever get away from brown refrigerators with dish towels hanging from the handle, step down living rooms, shag carpet, floral wallpaper, and puke green and puke yellow colors?!?!?! (I’m totally grateful for my step down living room!!!!!!) I LOVE that not one single person on the show has a cell phone, wasn’t comedy so much better when people actually had to work to talk to people?!!? Back when people were okay to act “not-normal” and were not put on every pill known to man (Kelso would’ve been on one, so would have Hyde, and Red).

Anyway…hit up That 70′s Show. And if you want to watch a great new sitcom, my vote goes to 2 Broke Girls.

Top Ten Movies Ever

In the past I have discussed the 80′s and 90′s movies…but I have yet to list my favorite movies of all time…ever.

Usually my standard requirements for making a movie the best ever are: southern, action and comedy combined, and has either Matthew McConaughey or Ryan Reynolds…or Kate Hudson…but not always as my list will prove.

Here are my 10 best movies ever selection:

1. Twister

2. Going the Distance

3. A Time to Kill

4. How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days

5. French Kiss

6. The Skelton Key

7. Away We Go

8. The Recruit

9. Easy A

10. The Client

It is apparent that I am severely overwhelmed with keeping up to date on my blog…apologies!!

I am currently reading Ashley Judd’s memoir, All That’s Bitter and Sweet, which is riveting and powerful…and a deep read, so it seems to be taking me forever.

Of course Betty White’s memoir, If You Ask Me, looks like a must read. As well as Freedom Riders by Raymond Arsenault…both added to my To Read List.

Music:

Where does one start when describing one of the funniest and rather ridiculous shows on TV?

In the words of Rob Dyrdek…”Sketchy”

If you don’t know his man then:

A) You don’t follow skateboarding

B) You don’t wear DC shoes

C) You don’t drink Monster energy drinks

D) You don’t know his side-kick, Big Black, from Rob & Big

E) You have not watched MTV since  2003

And you have missed out on some of the most hilarious stuff you will ever find on TV, and also probably some of the most stupid things one can do in front of a camera (NO this is NOT like JackAss!!)

Yet is is not all about Rob either…”Drama” adds the most spark to the show with his monotone questions to Rob with every sketchy idea Rob throws out there.

So far this season (season 4) has involved Rob dropping a $15,000 box with no more than a laugh, a bear office chair, Rob paying to be attacked by a tiger, and “Drama” getting veneers. Sure this may not sound funny reading it from me, but trust me.

My two favorite episodes will have to go to a few seasons back when Rob purchased his mom, Patty a bunch of those romantic novels and started to read through them, finding out how dirty they were, he started crossing out the dirty parts. The other was when Rob installed a zip-line inside of the Fantasy Factory.

Now…until you go set your recorder for Fantasy Factory (yes you will!) it’s on tonight!!…I leave you with two videos

And last season, what you missed.

I have something, stressful, coming up. Tomorrow actually, so I have gotten out my “inspiration book” so to speak. I only pull it out every once in a while…

Frankly it is not something I tell mostfew…okay like two people know about it (I am too old for these childish hobbies!!), but I figure since you take the time to visit my blog, you probably know more about me than most in the first place.

I love Faith Hill. I don’t know her personally, yet I love her. She inspires me. Yes this weird, especially given that I have never meet her.

I have been privileged to attend many of her concerts:

  • Soul2Soul Tour 2000
  • Faith Hill – Whistler 2004
  • Soul2Soul II – 2006
  • Soul2Soul Tour – 2007

While most have been with her husband, Tim McGraw, there is still her sole set at each of the Soul2Soul concerts. Anyway, I am getting off track…massively.

I have a scrapbook, an inspiration book…of Faith Hill. Ranging from magazine clippings to her fan club letters and Christmas cards. You can find a few of the magazines she has graced the covers of, sitting right next to the scrapbook on the shelf. I have been collecting stuff since 1999 – 2000.

My Faith Hill scrapbook

In a way the scrapbook is a reminder to me…that life can be what we make it…to go after dreams, too feel beautiful no matter what, to speak your mind…

But really, on days when I have lost hope in myself, it’s a reminder that Faith Hill is a strong woman. And that reminds me of my mom, and gets me thinking how strong my mom was, and how  much she could have accomplished (more so than she had) and how many people she touched in her shortened life.

I often wonder if they might have had some similarities. Frankly that is where it stands for both my mom and Faith Hill, because I never really got to know my mom, and I only know Faith Hill through the eyes of a media lens.

We all love someone we don’t actually know…and somehow that can inspire us when we need it the most.

Adding to my book list:

  • History of a Suicide: My Sister’s Unfinished Life by Jill Bialosky

Currently reading:

  • A few house restoration magazines I snatched up at 40% off  (since they are closing the stores nearest me) from Border’s.

Current songs:

Their performance at the Grammys was just awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

This one is just suck in my head….morning, noon, and night.

I watch reality TV, sadly, I will admit. Yet I do try to keep it to a few shows (i.e. Big Brother, Holly’s World). I will jump up and down with excitement and say that I really CANNOT go with The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills and Orange County. By far the two winners of the massively growing cities of housewives.

So there I was, figuring Miami…could be like Southern California.

WRONG!

First off, half of the case members need subtitles when they talk. Literally, and Bravo uses them!

Not only are all of them rather tall, but for reason I guess, because the “married to an ex-NBA player” ratio is like 3:5.

But where to really begin…is it the bedazzled mom jeans? Maybe the fact that all but the wife (Larsa Pippen) suggesting it, said that horseback riding was far too dangerous? Oh wait, that was also the wife that stated women should handle their man’s money so he can’t be doing bad things with it. Good call wifey!

However, I just might continue watching this dull show only because of, Marysol Patton’s mom. Truly hilarious lady!!! And she requires the most subtitles.

Yet, all that looks like will happen on this season of The Real “Dull” Housewives of Miami is an issue with a ticket to a dinner party. OOOOOOOOOOOOhhhhh Nooooooooooooooooo!

The Blind Side…Taco Bell

The other night I finally got around to watching The Blind Side. And I not far into the movie…I lost all concern and care. Why?

Taco Bell.

In the movie, and in real life, the Tuohy family owned/s a bunch of fast food restaurants. And they are rich from doing so. Hence this is where I started to zone out from the movie and what eventually followed me to bed….

How does a company make any money from a 99 cent taco? I’ve worked at a Wendy’s before…I know all the people they have to pay, even if it is minimum wage, the cost of the building, electrical and water bills, and then the food!

I don’t eat at Taco Bell, but I am sure there are at least 3 to 5 food “products” that make their way into each item. Those 3-5 “products” must total…what….50 cents. The rest is evenly distributed to run the place??? No…that doesn’t make sense…so maybe they only spend 25 cents, 5 cents per “product” in the item. THAT can’t be healthy!! The math simply is  not adding up.

Well this got me to thinking about who is getting the shaft on this fast food deal if the owners are millionaires…

HOW ARE THESE PEOPLE MAKING MONEY OFF A 99 CENT TACO?!?!

Back to the movie…frankly…I was disappointed. Honestly I was needing a good cry!! I don’t mean to be rude…the movie was OK. Maybe my volunteer work and age has toughened my skin. Maybe not. So for those out there that didn’t get that…good-feeling-football-success-go-get ‘em feeling when you watched The Blind Side, the kind which lumps up your throat and connects to a string from your heart….may I recommend….

The Express (2008)

Hi everyone, Awesome here.

Last night Mom turned on this movie for me. At least I think she did it for me because I couldn’t stop watching it!! It was amazing!!! The movie was called Santa Buddies and it was about dogs and puppies. I didn’t really follow the story because I kept having to go outside to play in the puddles from the rain.Yes it rained! And I was running around and making a wonderfully awesome mess! Oh yes, the movie…

I learned so much from the Santa Buddies movie. At first I sat and watched it, then I barked at those dogs, then I ran up and tried to go through the front of the TV to get to them. It didn’t work, the whole TV thing is rather confusing to me.

But these Santa Buddies taught me many things.

1. how to climb a tree

2. how to knock cookies off the counter and eat them (I didn’t know I could do that!)

3. how to bust a move

4. how to roll in dirt and shake it all over the house (And I thought puddles were fun!)

5. that dogs can talk

It’s true these dogs and puppies were talking. I don’t think Dog understood either, Dog just kept tilting her head, back and forth, back and forth looking at the TV. I can type, but talk?!?!

Anyway this movie Santa Buddies is my favorite movie of all time! Mom said the movie was baaaadddddd, but how could it be!! Santa’s Buddies know it all! I learned so much. I can’t wait to use all this knowledge!
